Betsy Feinberg, Psy.D.
Dr. Betsy Feinberg is a licensed psychologist in New Jersey (35SI00582900) and Pennsylvania (PS017645) and a certified school counselor. She received her Doctor of Psychology degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011.
Dr. Feinberg completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, in the Department of Psychiatry's Aaron T. Beck Psychopathology Research Center. She received advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for children, adolescents, and adults, with a specialized focus in school-based applications of CBT. Having received supervision and training from Dr. Aaron Beck, she has extensive expertise in evaluating the quality of CBT therapy sessions. She continues to serve as a CBT trainer at the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Psychiatry, where she advances therapists' skills in CBT.
Prior to her postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Feinberg refined her skills in servicing children and adolescents at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Dr. Feinberg worked as a therapist, research supervisor, integrity monitor, and psychology trainee. She received specialized training in evaluating and treating ADHD as well as psychoeducational and psychological difficulties at CHOP's Center for Management of ADHD. She also worked in CHOP's Community Schools Program, supporting youth in a prominent school-based relational aggression intervention program. She received intensive training in evidence-based practices with youth and lead organizational skills interventions. She also pursued research efforts in CHOP's Cardiology Department, expanding her skills in clinical health psychology, supporting youth and families with medical diagnoses.
In addition to her school-based expertise, Dr. Feinberg has provided services to children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of other settings, including inpatient hospitals, a partial-hospital program, university-based mental health center, and a primary-care setting. She has taught graduate courses in the area of clinical health psychology in the schools, and has published work pertaining to therapists’ competency in CBT and relational aggression.
Dr. Feinberg is also a certified school counselor, having received her Master of Science in Education, from the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education in 2003. She has worked in public schools, servicing children and families in elementary through high school. In her current role as a school counselor, she provides evidence-based individual and group counseling. She leads parent meetings, teacher meetings, classroom lessons, and is the lead for the school's Intervention and Referral Services (I&RS) Team. She is also a member of the school's 504 Team, where she collaborates on the development and implementation of student accommodation plans.
Currently, at the Center for Emotional Health, Dr. Feinberg works with children and families in Psychoeducational Services, providing assessment and evidence-based treatment of ADHD, learning difficulties and other emotional and behavioral struggles.
