About Dr. Finkelstein

Dr. Katherine Finkelstein is a Licensed Counseling Psychologist and Staff Psychologist at CEH. She
views therapy as an opportunity for growth, self-exploration and understanding, and enhancing
self-compassion. Dr. Finkelstein’s approach to therapy is strengths-based, culturally responsive,
and trauma-informed. She values authenticity and strives to create a warm, collaborative, and
safe environment with her clients to process their lived experiences, explore personal values
and emotions, and learn actionable skills and coping strategies to help them achieve their
therapeutic goals.

Dr. Finkelstein provides evidence-based treatment for young adults and adults for a range of
mental health concerns, including depression, OCD and anxiety-related disorders, PTSD and
trauma-related disorders, adjustment concerns, grief, and life/role transitions. Dr. Finkelstein
draws from a strong foundation in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other
mindfulness-based techniques and has specialized experience in facilitating trauma-processing.
She provides the following evidence-based treatments: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
(ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged
Exposure (PE), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Behavioral Activation (BA), Skills Training in
Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR), and Unified Protocol (UP). Dr. Finkelstein also
specializes in working with clients who have experienced sexual violence/unwanted sexual
experiences and provides LGBTQ+ affirming care.

Before joining CEH, Dr. Finkelstein served as a Staff Psychologist at the Wilmington VA Medical
Center within the outpatient Behavioral Health Integration Program (BHIP) where she provided
both individual and group therapy. Dr. Finkelstein graduated from the APA-accredited
Counseling Psychology Ph.D. Program at Seton Hall University and trained across a spectrum
of clinical settings with diverse client populations. She completed her APA-accredited
predoctoral internship at VA Pittsburgh Medical Center where she trained in the following
rotations: Process-Based Therapy, Treatment of Psychotic Disorders, the Trauma Recovery Clinic,
and the Center for Treatment of Addictive Disorders. She has also served as a rape crisis
counselor and medical advocate for the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC).

Dr. Finkelstein is licensed to practice psychology in Pennsylvania (PS020185) and across the U.S.
by the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) through PSYPACT (#19779).
