Psychiatric Medication Management Services

Specialized Care for Children, Adolescents & Adults

The Center for Emotional Health (CEH) provides psychiatric medication management in New Jersey for children, adolescents, and adults.

What Is Psychiatric Medication Management?

Psychiatric medication management includes:
  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation
  • Diagnostic clarification
  • Development of an individualized treatment plan
  • Prescribing and adjusting psychiatric medications
  • Monitoring effectiveness and side effects
  • Ongoing safety assessment
  • Coordination with therapists and medical providers

We emphasize shared decision-making at every stage of care and interdisciplinary collaboration with other members of the treatment team to optimize treatment outcomes.

Specialized Expertise in Anxiety & OCD Psychopharmacology

Medication management services at CEH are delivered by licensed, board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs). Our PMHNPs are advanced practice registered nurses with graduate-level training in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and medication management across the lifespan and specialized training in the evidence-based pharmacologic treatment of anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related disorders, trauma disorders, mood disorders, and  neurodevelopmental disorders, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and tic disorders.

Our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) practice in accordance with New Jersey and Pennsylvania regulations. Depending on experience and state requirements, our PMHNPs practice either independently or within a formal collaborative agreement with a licensed physician. In either case, psychiatry consultation is readily available, and care is delivered in alignment with state standards and best clinical practices. The result is accessible, evidence-based psychiatric treatment grounded in both professional rigor and compassionate care.

Medication treatment often requires careful titration, condition-specific dosing strategies, and thoughtful monitoring. Our providers are trained specifically in these nuances for both pediatric and adult populations.

CEH is nationally recognized for its expertise in anxiety and obsessive-compulsive and related disorders. Our psychiatric nurse practitioners have specialized training and consultation with experts in the pharmacologic treatment of:

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs)
  • Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Trauma-related conditions
  • Depression and Mood Disorders
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Our Approach: Thoughtful, Conservative & Evidence-Based

At CEH:
  • Medication is prescribed carefully and not reflexively
  • Risks, benefits, and alternatives are reviewed thoroughly
  • Therapy integration is prioritized
  • Functional improvement and long-term well-being guide treatment

Research supports combined treatment (medication + CBT/ERP) for many anxiety and OCD presentations, among other psychiatric conditions, and we frequently collaborate with therapists within CEH and in the community.
