About Dr. Gotlib
Dr. Michael Gotlib is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Staff Psychologist. He joined the CEH team in August 2016 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton University Counseling and Psychological Services. Dr. Gotlib brings to CEH clinical expertise in evidence based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for anxiety and mood disorders. He sees adolescents and adults for individual therapy in Cherry Hill on Wednesdays and facilitates psychological skills workshops in Cherry Hill and Princeton. He is also available for telehealth appointments for clients living in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Dr. Gotlib served as the group therapy coordinator at Drexel’s Counseling and Health Services. As a supervising psychologist at Drexel, he was responsible for training and supervising doctoral trainees in clinical psychology. Dr. Gotlib has extensive experience in mindfulness-based treatments from his clinical trainings at Princeton University, the University of Iowa, the Yale Center for Anxiety and Mood Disorders, and the Yale School of Medicine, where he trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Dr. Gotlib approaches counseling as a cooperative venture for exploration and growth. He aims to meet the client at an equal and authentic level. When working with adolescents, he attempts to keep the young mind engaged and will frequently teach mindfulness skills outside of the session room. He strives to create a safe environment and be flexible in order to match specific needs in a culturally responsive manner. He works with clients to achieve their desired treatment goals and have greater compassion for their experiences. He is integrative in his work with a focus on acceptance- and mindfulness-based treatment modalities. He is also committed to community-based work for healthy masculinity, LGBTQ+ issues, and challenging the stigma of mental health.
