Anxiety and Related Disorders

Anxiety Disorders are the most common mental health diagnoses in the United States, affecting over 18.1% of the population, including 40 million adults and 25.1% of children.

Those struggling with anxiety disorders are at an elevated risk of suffering from problems related to work and school, relationship strain, missing out on social experiences, seeking medical attention for physical distress, and an increased risk of other psychiatric and substance use disorders. Yet, only 36.9% receive treatment. Anxiety disorders can be treated effectively.

At The Center for Emotional Health, our clinicians provide evidence-based treatment for the following anxiety and related disorders:

Obsessive Compulsive and Related Disorders

Obsessive-compulsive and related disorders are a group of disorders that, although have their distinct differences, share common symptoms, which include obsessive thoughts and/or repetitive behaviors.

Often co-occurring within individuals, these disorders have well-developed, evidence-based psychological treatments that help individuals to significantly decrease their symptoms and improve their daily functioning and quality of life.

Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Neurodevelopmental disorders are a group of disorders that emerge within childhood, as the brain and nervous system are developing.

Although there are a wide range of disorders within this group, these disorders often manifest as psychiatric problems or impairment in motor functioning or difficulties with learning, language, or non-verbal communication. Cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT) can assist children and their families in overcoming neurodevelopmental hurdles so they may continue to grow, learn, and thrive.

At The Center for Emotional Health and CEH FamilyCare, our clinicians provide evidence-based treatment for the following neurodevelopmental disorders:

Psychoeducational Evaluation and School Consultation

When students are struggling academically or exhibiting behavioral and emotional problems, psychoeducational and behavioral assessment provide vital information to educators and caregivers to assist in developing effective educational and behavioral plans.

At CEH FamilyCare, our clinicians conduct comprehensive evaluations to help determine the underlying cause of the presenting problem and detail effective interventions to support students in reaching their full potential.

Psychological Evaluation and Forensic Psychological Evaluation

Our clinical and forensic psychologists at The Center for Emotional Health of Greater Philadelphia and CEH FamilyCare are diagnostic specialists who place an emphasis on the importance of biopsychosocial evaluation and psychological testing in order to assess the whole person.

Comprehensive psychological evaluation serves an important role in establishing the accurate diagnosis and understanding of a client’s struggles and providing consistent clinical recommendations. Whether referred by other healthcare providers to discern diagnostic clarity and treatment recommendations or by legal professionals in consultation regarding legal matters, our psychologists take great care to provide close examination and detailed reporting in assessment of a presenting difficulty.

Insomnia

Insomnia is the most common sleep disorder, with as many as 40 million Americans experiencing insomnia each year.

A lack of sufficient sleep can have a significant impact on our daily functioning, with the potential to contribute to difficulties with anxiety, depression, irritability, and problems with attention, learning, and memory. Although medications can help with sleep onset and maintenance, insomnia can also be treated effectively with behavior therapy. CEH clinicians provide the gold standard behavioral treatment for insomnia, CBT-I.
