CBT for Anxiety Disorders in Young Children

This is a live interactive webinar presentation.

This workshop is designed for clinicians who are already familiar with using CBT for anxiety, but would like to gain additional skills for adapting these interventions for youth, particularly very young children. The workshop will provide an overview of developmental norms for fears and will distinguish normative fears from anxiety disorders. Next, the basic components of CBT for child anxiety will be discussed, with case examples and experiential activities included. The workshop will include strategies/techniques for making CBT engaging for kids. In addition, adaptations/considerations for very young children (i.e., ages 5-7) will be discussed.

At the completion of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the major components of cognitive behavioral therapy for youth anxiety disorders
  • Identify strategies to make CBT engaging for children with anxiety disorders
  • Identify ways to adapt CBT strategies for very young children with anxiety disorders

CE Credit: 1.5 hours of CE credit is available for attendees who are present for the entire live program.

This is an Intermediate Level Course.

Dr. Phoebe Durland

Dr. Phoebe Durland PsyD is a Licensed Psychologist at the Center for Emotional Health of Greater Philadelphia (CEH). Prior to joining CEH in 2017, Dr. Durland earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology. Dr. Durland has extensive experience using CBT and ACT approaches to treat individuals across the lifespan with OCD and related disorders, anxiety disorders, BFRBs, and tic disorders. Dr. Durland’s research has focused on mechanisms of change in CBT for youth anxiety disorders, and she has presented at national and international psychology conferences.
