An Introduction to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)
This is a live interactive webinar presentation.
Insomnia is a prevalent sleep disorder associated with health and functional impairment. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is a brief evidence-based treatment that addresses insomnia symptoms. CBT-I helps individuals with insomnia identify factors that maintain sleep disturbance and change their sleep-related behaviors. In this workshop, participants will learn the primary factors that contribute to the pattern of insomnia including conditioned arousal, ineffective habits aimed at improving sleep, and sleep-related worry. Finally, the workshop will include instruction and case conceptualizations as methods for teaching the treatment components of CBT-I.
At the completion of the program, participants will be able to:
- Articulate the diagnostic features of insomnia and evidence base for CBT-I.
- Conceptualize a clinical case using a CBT-I framework.
- Implement various treatment components of CBT-I including sleep monitoring, stimulus control, and sleep restriction.
