About Dr. DeRiso

Dr. DeRiso is a Licensed Clinical Health Psychologist and offers services via telehealth and at the Princeton office. Dr. DeRiso originally began her training in medical settings to serve medical inpatients, and learned her passion involves working with individuals throughout their lifetime. Dr. DeRiso decided to work in private practice to combine her passions of anxiety spectrum disorders and physical health conditions and facilitate long-term therapy.

Dr. Megan DeRiso emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship being the one of the most essential factors in any therapeutic work. She believes creating a safe, non-judgmental space is one of the best ways to help others grow and learn more about themselves. Dr. DeRiso practices evidence-based interventions for specific mental health conditions, and also believes anyone can benefit from therapy.

Dr. DeRiso specializes in exposure work, specifically exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD, interoceptive exposures for panic disorder, and gradual exposures for specific phobia and social anxiety. Dr. DeRiso primarily practices using cognitive-behavioral interventions (CBT) for generalized anxiety, depression, and insomnia. Dr. DeRiso also works with individuals struggling with body image and disordered eating. Dr. DeRiso has a strong foundation in mindfulness meditation.

Dr. DeRiso received her doctorate (PsyD) in clinical health psychology from Nova Southeastern University, an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited clinical psychology doctoral program. Dr. DeRiso acquired specialized training to be titled a clinical health psychologist and work with physical health conditions, such as chronic illness, terminal illness, disability, medical trauma, and other health conditions. Dr. DeRiso has presented multiple clinical workshops at local and national meetings, was elected as a guest speaker for grand rounds at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and has published original research in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. DeRiso is an active member of several professional associations, including the American Psychological Association (APA) and Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA).

Dr. DeRiso is a licensed psychologist in New Jersey (#35SI00756400) and is pursuing PSYPACT to practice telehealth in all states participating in PSYPACT, currently 42 (https://psypact.org/mpage/psypactmap).
